Description of Fly fishing on Savinja river

Emerging at the Rinka Waterfall in Slovenia’s picturesque Logar Valley, the Savinja shares more than half of its length with those who love to fly fish. Its deep pools, riffles, pockets and dams are home to the Brown trout and Grayling, joined downstream by the Rainbow Trout and Huchen, with Barbel and Chub also not uncommon residence.

Your fishing adventure begins in the morning, when our local guide will take you to the best fishing spots on the river. You will mainly be targeting the Rainbow Trout, but you can of course catch other Trout species as well. Breaks for refreshments and food will be held to recharge your batteries in order to tackle the enormous amount of fish. The fishing trip can last all day or half a day, depending on your preference.

Fish in Savinja river

This is a huge river with a lot of fish. Glad we took a guide, his spots made a huge difference. when I caught my first Rainbow over 60cm, I was sure we were in the right place!

Day well spent while fighting with gorgeous trouts. I lost a couple, but managed to land the biggest one without problems. Mitia is a cool dude and we enjoyed his company as well.

I probably would not found this spot without a guide, certainly a special part of this beautiful country. I still look at the photos of all those trouts on my phone from time to time!
