Description of Huchen fishing on Sava river

After the Sava Bohinjka and Sava Dolinka confluence, the river gets the name Sava. Its gravel beds, deep pools and sharp passages are perfect if you’re looking for a wilder fishing experience. It flows through the town of Kranj, where the largest Huchen in Slovenia was caught. In and around Lake Trboje many other species can be fished, like the Chub, Barbel, Perch, Zander, and Carp.

Your fishing adventure starts in the morning when you and your guide will travel to the best Huchen fishing locations on the Sava River. Fishing will take place throughout the day, with breaks for snacks and refreshments. At the end of a successful day, the fisherman or fisherwoman with the biggest catch pays a round of drinks to toast to the new Huchen King.

Fish in Sava river

I got to experience the kingdom of huchen with my own eyes or should I say my rod :) I got 2 of them in one day. Couldn't be happier.

A hard one, but did not expect nothing different. However did not expect fish of that size and such battle. At the end 91cm of silver shined in my hands. All the best, Slovenia has amazing waters.

It really was my lucky day fishing for Huchen on the Sava river as I managed to catch a real biggun! Thanks to guide Mario, I have some great photos to remember this adventure.
