The Red Scorpionfish is a marine predator that feeds on various sea animals. It lives near the seabed, where it blends in with its surroundings and stalks its prey. Red Scorpionfish can grow up to 50 cm and weigh over 5 kg, with a large mouth representing a great portion of their bodies. As its name implies, this fish is characterized by a red to reddish-brown colour, and has numerous outgrowths and sPikes protruding from its body. The sPikes located on the back have poisonous glands and are painful if stabbed by. According to statistics, Red Scorpionfish weighing 0.5 kg are commonly caught in the Adriatic, their meat, however, comes at a high market value.
