Lake Cerknica is one of the largest intermittent lakes in Europe. Its flooded grassy fields are superb breeding grounds for Pike, Chub and Tench. In the summer, the waters retreat and with them the population of fish. Pike is the main sports attraction in the lake. Larger versions of Tench, Chub and Carp over 20 kg (44 lbs), however, can be caught in this natural phenomenon of a lake.
